Dammam, Saudi Arabia: The Telugu diaspora celebrated Sankranti with grandeur and cultural fervor in Dammam on Friday. Apart from the Indian community from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and other states, the event also saw participation from guests hailing from Bahrain and Kuwait.

The highlight of the event was a captivating Kolatam performance, supervised and trained by Sandhya. The team, comprising Dr. Anuradha, Jayashree, Soujanya, Radha, Navya, Rajini, Bhavani, Janhavi, Lakshmi, Padma Priya, Swathi Durga, Komati Divakar, Ruchitha, Vijaya, Parkavi, Jyothi, Naga Jyothi, Preeti, Anjali, and Vasanthi, trained diligently for nearly three months. Their hard work resulted in a visual treat for the audience, leaving them spellbound.

Organized by the Saudi Arabia Telugu Association (SATA) under the leadership of its president Teja, the celebrations included various cultural events, a cricket match, rangoli competitions, and a grand feast of traditional delicacies.

SATA Founder S Mallesh expressed his joy at the event’s success, noting that around 1,500 people attended the celebration, making it one of the largest gatherings to date. “Such events strengthen the bonds within the Telugu community and provide a platform for mutual support,” said Bheem Reddy Mandha, President of the Emigrants Welfare Forum, who also attended the event.

This year’s Sankranti celebrations once again highlighted the Telugu diaspora’s cultural pride and unity abroad.
